Following the success of the Damosa IT Park of Damosa Land, a number of other real estate development projects are now expected to see the light of day in Davao City.
Ed Villaver, Vice-President and General Manager of Damosa Land, confirmed recently that the Anflocor Group is entering into a joint venture with Ayala Land Inc. for the establishment of a 10-hectare business complex in Bajada. The property is located on JP Laurel Ave., near Victoria Plaza and Bo. Obrero. Villaver estimates that groundbreaking will commence middle of this year.
This development, according to Villaver, will not merely be an IT economic zone. It will be a “multi-use facility that will eventually house business process outsourcing operators,” as well as Manila-based franchises. A mid-sized hotel is reportedly in the works as well.
Meantime, Anflocor’s current project, the Damosa Business Center, is nearing completion. Situated right beside the existing IT Park in Lanang, this upcoming commercial building will be suited for software development outfits, telecoms providers, research & development firms, and the like. The 3-storey Damosa Business Center is scheduled to be inaugurated in April 2008.
All over the city, the construction of more commercial and residential buildings is underway. While these are not directly related to IT, they are complementary to the efforts of various sectors in promoting the city as an ideal IT investment destination.
Villaver says he welcomes these real estate projects, as well as the entry of other property developers that are targeting information technology services. He says that these will spur the local economy and provide more jobs to Davao’s growing number of IT graduates.
Blue-chip property developers SM and Robinsons are reportedly keen on Davao City and are also planning to operate economic zones geared towards IT and IT-enabled services.

Hi Blogie,
Are there any available office spaces for IT firms within the central Davao area? I find Damosa to be really far especially for people living within the Toril to Matina area.
In my experience, office location has always been an issue with potential applicants.
@faust — I’ll get on that as soon as I possibly can. Been terribly busy lately, you see…
@BJ — What kind of office space? I mean, is it important that the space is of the level of PEZA-registered zones?
@ blogie – thanks blogie, heres the image you can upload in your blogs or website http://www.deped-davaocity.ph/images/stories/links/davaocity.gif
cheers
@blogie – that’ll be good but it’s not important. Basically we’re looking for something that can fit around 20 computers/tables. It’s for a BPO company that a friend of mine is gonna put up.
Where can I find a list of PEZA-registered zones?
Thanks for your help
@BJ — Are you in Davao? Pls attend the TechnoKapihan this 26th of March. It’s the monthly get-together of the industry’s movers and shakers, so to speak. The venue hasn’t been decided on yet, but I’ll announce it here. The focus of this month’s session is BPO. Also, in May, there will be a BPO forum, to be organized by ICT Davao Inc. More on that in this blog in the near future.
@Blogie,
Yes I’m in Davao. I’ve always wanted to attend TechnoKapihan but I’ve been really busy lately. I’ll see if I can attend this March because I’m very interested in that topic.
