Bayantel Wireless… way less than expected!
by Blogie • 1 April 2008
I don’t stay in the office — in my work, I find myself in clients’ own offices, or in one of Davao’s many WIFI-enabled coffee shops. But, even in this age of high cellular phone coverage, I found that I still needed an "office" phone. So I got myself a Bayantel Wireless, which is practically a landline but is in fact a mobile phone. Now I can be contacted either by cellphone or via my portable landline.
Thing is, it’s been about 4 months now that I’ve had this line, and I’m getting very frustrated with it. In the beginning, I tried to be understanding: then, it was a fairly new product by Bayantel, which is probably the most minor player in the country’s telecommunications industry. But it’s been too long that I’ve been trying to be patient!
Calls are never crystal clear, far from it. Even when I’m calling another Bayantel line, the reception is unbelievably awful. I thought maybe it was the unit, a Huawei mobile phone, that I’m using. But when I tried their ZTE unit, which looks like a regular landline phone, it was the same bad connection. So it’s not the phone, it’s the Bayantel network that’s problematic.
After all their marketing hype, this company should do their utmost best to deliver quality products. When is your service going to improve, Bayantel, when?
I have about 8 more grueling months in my contract… that is way too long a time to deal with a defective system.

hehehe you should have waited for PLDT wireless
We’ve tried that before. A year ago I think. We didn’t have any problems though.
@jehz — I know, right!?
@BJ — Lucky you
I applied for 2 units - 1 ZTE and 1 Kyocera. We live in Mintal (I know it’s far, OK?) and it worked fine from inside the house for several months. Now, I have to go out of the house to make a call.
too bad, i guess no one from bayan has read this post yet.
awwww.. i thought it was ok..
pero siguro may pinipiling owner/user.. wahahahaha
ey Blogie, mag PLDT Landline plus ka na kasi. They’re better and mas mura pa hehehe
actually, mas malakas ang network coverage nila!
and i dont even work for PLDT hahaha
p.s. Bangkok is crazy you should be here and we will party like there’s no tomorrow!!!!
@AYEZA — The PLDT mobile landline product came out after I’d already purchased a plan with Bayantel. Shucks…
Glad you’re enjoying Bangkok! Been following your twits.
if you’re a guy, you’re too much of a whiner to be straight.
Aha! My first detractor comment!
Hey, I may not be straight, but I’m no whiner!
mas maganda pa rin ang PLDT products
At this point, I will have to agree with you, PIC Micro.
Yes Tama ka Mr. Bloggie my problem talaga sa connection nla.
Minsan ang ganda na ng usapan nyo minsan nawawala lang bigla ang kausap mo sa line…
Hahay nakaka frustrate minsan,but what can we do?
Why are big companies that control everything.
I mean they are big companies who control they’re system…
WALANG KWENTA BAYANTEL SUPER BAGAL NG INTERNET,PATI WIRELESS LANDLINE PALPAK PALAGI CALL WAS LOST PAANO MO MAENJOY ANG USAPAN? NKAKAINIS!!! MAGBABAGO PA BA ANG SERBISYO NG BAYANTEL? MAY WIRELESS GLOBELINES NA MURA NA SULIT PA…
I think here in davao city, i will reccomend PLDT. We have been using our Bayantel DSL @6k a mont na sing bilis lng residential DSL acount sa ktbi namin coffeeshop. Medyo ngimprove na nga since last time we will terminate their connection if they dont give attention to our issue on intermittent connections. This is has been documented on my blogs and the print screens that I showed their technical staff how their service sucks. Very smll value for the amount you have paid for. No matter how good the CSR is, kahit sumayaw pa sila kung wala naman magagwa kasi infrastructure problem na kasi ito ng bayantel. Their system’s are old and unpredictable.
Btw, Innove/Globe just finished deploying their lines here in downtown. The coffe shop beside us just avail two month free no strings attach deal with them. Check our globe office
its been 7 months that i have bayantel span. i just live in quezon city pero daming dead spots. pagpasok mo ng mall, wala ng signal. and i hate yung paputol putol na call. even the huawei unit is defective. parang disposable after a month of use. the battery drains fast. the headphones doesnt sound good. even the fm radio doesnt pick up good signal. and guess what, eventhough my signal yung unit mo, if you try calling it, you’ll be surprise hearing that ‘you cant be reached’ kahit may signal ka. hay, the other guy is saying it right, problema nga talaga sa system ng bayantel. i still got five more months sa contract but the hell with bayantel, im not paying them any single cents anymore…
