I was blog-hopping via Technorati.jp and I chanced upon this cool new wristwatch, created by Tokyo Flash.

Tokyo Flash's Infection Japan, the land of trends and raves, has come out with yet another innovative contraption that’s sure to whet the appetites of gadget freaks and fashionistas. It’s a new timepiece with an intriguing, captivating way of telling time, and it’s called — dig this — Infection.

The reason for the name is the face of the watch, covered with patterns that, according to the makers, look like viruses.

I don’t know about that, but the time-telling aspect sure is unique!

Tokyo Flash's InfectionAccording to the text, you read the time by way of the patterns of light. Twelve red LEDs indicate the hour; eleven yellow LEDs represent the progression of time in 5-minute groups; and, four green LEDs show single minutes. (Hmmm… it might have been lost in translation!)

The pulsating display (one of the buttons animates the LED lights) is encased in an ergonomically-designed housing, and strapped to your wrist in genuine leather. It weighs 60 grams and is water resistant up to 3 atmospheres. It only tells the time.

Thing is, if you’re in the market for a watch like this (¥13,900), you wouldn’t be in it for knowing what time it was, would you? It’s a conversation piece, and a fashion statement with a Wow! factor.

So, can you guess what time it’s telling?

upper image has 3:59 and the second one reads 3:56. Yellow means minutes in multiples of five plus greens in ones. Weren’t lost in translation at all.
