The Nokia N96

by Blogie • 2 November 2008

Nokia N96After romancing the awesome Nokia N82 for nearly four months, WOM World is now asking for it back… (sigh)  However, I’ve gotten yet another mobile phone: the N96. While the N82, like I’ve mentioned before, is a camera phone, the N96 is reportedly a video phone. This I have to see.

I’ll take some videos and see how this phone fares. More on that in future posts!

I’m glad to note that the N96 has all the features of the N82 that I’ve come to love. In fact, its Symbian installation is more updated, and more attuned to providing a better multimedia experience.

Nokia N96 One thing curious, though: the camera (which is also equipped with Carl Zeiss optics and is 5 megapixels strong) does not seem to be as good as the N82’s. I have to take more photos to be sure…

The N96 is supposed to be able to deliver mobile TV, but I haven’t tried that yet. I still have to check with my provider if a subscription might be necessary.

This phone was sent to me for review, but also as the device to use in a series of challenges. To participate, I need to use Nokia Vine, a mobile application that lets you keep track of your travels and activities that involve moving around from one place to another. Since this phone has GPS, geo-tagging of photos and videos is very much possible.

More on this phone soon!
